Jonathan Bernard, MD

Dr. Jonathan Bernard is a board-eligible plastic surgeon who is passionate about providing thoughtful, individualized care. Born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas, Dr. Bernard is excited to return to his home state and serve patients throughout the Kansas City community.
Dr. Bernard attended Kansas State University and received the Anderson Senior Award for Outstanding Service in 2015. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society by his classmates in recognition of his commitment to compassionate patient care.
He completed three years of general surgery residency at the University of South Alabama, where he was again inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society by medical students and received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award. He then continued his training at The Ohio State University, completing an integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency under the guidance of leaders in the field.
Dr. Bernard believes excellent care begins with listening. He takes the time to understand each patient’s story, goals, and concerns before providing honest recommendations and developing a personalized treatment plan. His approach emphasizes clear communication, trust, and patient safety, with the goal of ensuring every patient feels heard, respected, and confident in their care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bernard enjoys spending time with his wife and high school sweetheart, Erin, their children, Olivia and Beau, and their golden retriever, Blake. He enjoys running, water and snow skiing, fishing, and spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Bernard is honored to return to Kansas and looks forward to building lasting relationships with his patients and their families.
