Preparation
You will receive preparation instructions at the end of your consultation. Following these closely before your microneedling procedure will ensure a smooth session with effective and optimal results. You may be asked to avoid medications or supplements with blood-thinning effects, nicotine, and alcohol before and after treatment. We recommend that all patients remain well-hydrated and consume a nutritious diet in the days before their treatment. Please refrain from using topical retinoids or exfoliants that may irritate the skin. Please also discuss any sensitivities or allergies you have with your specialist before your procedure. On the day of your appointment, please arrive with clean skin and without any makeup.
Procedure
Microneedling typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes. Your specialist will begin treatment by gently cleansing and sterilizing the skin to eliminate any debris, dirt, oils, bacteria, and other impurities. (2) A topical anesthetic is then applied to minimize any potential discomfort, ensuring a more pleasant experience. Your microneedling specialist will then administer the treatment with either a dermaroller or motorized device, creating controlled micropunctures in the targeted areas. The depth the needles reach will vary depending on the specific skin concern being addressed. To enhance results, serums containing hyaluronic acid or other beneficial ingredients may be infused immediately after the needling process to seep through the small channels opened in the skin. (2)

- RF Microneedling: Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling works by emitting infrared and radio frequency energies into the skin as the needles make punctures. This energy is absorbed as heat in the skin, which leads to increased collagen production. This remodels your skin over time while immediately producing tighter skin.
Recovery
After microneedling, a few side effects are typical, including redness, minor swelling, and tenderness. The skin usually heals within a few days. Patients should apply gentle skincare products as recommended by their specialist. When washing their faces in the following days, it is recommended to only use gentle products and apply gentle pressure. Patients should also avoid excessive sun exposure during the initial healing phase. While many patients can resume their normal activities immediately after their microneedling treatments, we do recommend refraining from rigorous physical activities for at least 24 hours. Continuing to stay hydrated and maintaining a healthy diet will support your skin’s recovery.
