Breast Augmentation

Breast implants and breast augmentation surgery were among the first plastic surgery options widely popularized, and the options for breast enhancement have not only increased, but become safer, easier and in some cases less costly. From a variety of implants to fat transfer breast augmentation, Monarch Plastic Surgery is on the cutting edge with breast augmentation options.

Breast augmentation, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure that enhances the size and shape of a woman’s breast. Women choose to undergo breast augmentation for a number of reasons:

  • To enhance the body contour of a woman would prefer larger breasts or other breast enhancement such as a breast lift
  • To correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy
  • To balance a difference in breast size
  • As a reconstructive technique following breast surgery for breast cancer, injury or other causes

Benefits of breast augmentation

In addition to improved appearance and self-esteem, breast augmentation offers a number of physical and psychological benefits. Women who undergo breast lifts and/or other types of breast augmentation report an improved quality of life and increased satisfaction with their sex lives. Breast augmentation can provide expanded options for women who feel that they have limited choices of flattering clothing or swimwear, and can also increase a woman’s confidence in social and professional situations.

Best candidates for breast augmentation

The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking for improvement in the way they look, are physically healthy, and have realistic expectations about the procedure. If your breast surgeon agrees that your goals are reasonable, then you may be an ideal candidate for the procedure.

Understanding breast implants and breast augmentation procedures

During your breast augmentation surgery, you will be placed under general anesthesia. Your breast surgeon will insert an implant behind each breast to increase your bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. The size of the implant used will depend on your desired outcome and will be determined in your consultation with your doctor. Your surgeon will make an incision, either in the crease under the breast or in the armpit, to minimize scarring.

Types of implants

A breast implant is a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or a salt-water solution known as saline. Your surgeon will help you determine the best type of implant for you based on your individual goals.

At Monarch, one of the main products we use are Sientra silicone gel breast implants. Sientra implants are naturally soft to mimic the look and feel of a woman’s breast and are available in more than 340 options. They are FDA approved and have some of the lowest complication rates clinically shown through a robust 10-year study. Sientra implants are designed to hold their shape while maintaining a remarkably soft feel and are backed by their Platinum 20™-year warranty.

See for yourself with Sientra’s Magic Mirror

Monarch is proud to be one of only a few practices in the country to have the Sientra mirror, which gives you the opportunity to see how your Sientra implants will look on you before you make final decisions on size and shape. The Sientra mirror provides a highly realistic, 3D visualization of the implants on your own body with many options, including multiple angles, with and without clothing, still and in motion. The mirror works alongside technology our surgeons already use during a consultation for a highly personalized and uniquely “you” experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of breast augmentation surgery depends on the procedures selected. We offer high-quality care, products, services and plastic surgery options at competitive pricing because our goal is the same as yours: natural-looking results at affordable prices. If you are new to our plastic surgery practice, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our team members. We can discuss your appearance goals and create personalized treatment recommendations with breast augmentation pricing information included (optional breast lift costs can be factored in as well).

Seeing your optimal results will also vary depending on your treatment plan and choice of breast augmentation procedure. Some cosmetic procedures provide immediate results, while others have enhanced effects over time.

During your breast augmentation consultation at Monarch Plastic Surgery, you will meet with one of our breast surgeons, who will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan. Your surgeon will let you know if a breast augmentation is right for you, or if a combination of a breast lift and breast augmentation is necessary to achieve the results you want. In some cases, adding breast volume without also lifting the existing breast tissue will not achieve the desired appearance.

You can expect to discuss your options for breast implant size, type, and placement. You may wish to bring a list of your questions or concerns, a few tops to try on with sample implants, and a trusted friend or relative to provide a second opinion.
