Job Title: Primary Nurse 

Reports to: Director of Clinical Operations

General Purpose:

The purpose of the Primary Nurse position is to provide comprehensive patient care coordination, education, and scheduling for both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, staff, and the physician, ensuring a seamless experience across both aesthetic services and insurance-based medical care. Responsibilities include developing rapport with patients pursuing procedures to enhance appearance and confidence, as well as coordinating medically necessary services such as ordering hand therapy, EMGs, Ultrasounds, and other diagnostic tests. The Primary Nurse will also manage surgical coordination with other specialists, obtain pre-authorizations for medications, obtain medical clearances, and handle related insurance communications. In addition, the nurse is responsible for cultivating and closing cosmetic sales leads, following up with booked and prospective patients, and completing associated administrative tasks. This role requires close collaboration with the broader care team, travel to other clinic locations as needed, and flexibility to support and provide coverage for fellow nurses.

Education and/or Experience:

Experience in a medical office with a high focus on customer service. Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

Technical Acumen – Equipment/Computer Skills:

Must be able to use the following equipment and software packages with proficiency:

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Discusses cosmetic consultations and procedures with prospective patients over the phone, via email, and in person.
  • Ability to think quickly and manage triage calls.
  • Meet with patient at time of consultation to discuss surgery, consult with the surgeon, answer questions, discuss concerns, develop quotes for procedures, and explain financial policies.
  • Manage insurance and reconstructive cases through the process.
  • Coordinate patient financing as needed.
  • Accompany the surgeon during cosmetic patient exams as needed (e.g., chaperone).
  • Perform breast implant sizing and ordering.
  • Schedule all surgeries; coordinate pre-surgical processes and ensure consent forms are signed.
  • Collect surgical deposits and payments; ensure all balances are paid prior to surgery.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with leads and patients.
  • Maintain patient databases for follow-up and outreach.

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist and provide backup for other primary nurses as needed.
  • Review and respond to email, patient requests, and phone calls regularly throughout the workday; return all phone calls by end of day.
  • Ensure accurate data entry in tracking and computer systems for all cosmetic patients.
  • Proactively monitor surgeon’s schedule.
  • Solicit patient testimonials, reviews, and consent for before/after photos.
  • Conduct post-surgical follow-ups, send thank-you cards or gifts.
  • Coordinate referrals and manage relationships with referring physicians and partner offices.
  • Travel to other clinic locations as needed to provide coverage and support.
  • Support team efforts and complete additional duties as assigned by leadership.
