About Cellulite

Cellulite is a painless skin condition that manifests as depressions and dimples with defined edges. This skin condition primarily occurs in female patients, with 80% to 90% of women experiencing symptoms at some point in their lives. (2) This condition primarily manifests in the legs, thighs, and buttocks, and it can cause self-consciousness about one’s appearance. (1)
The cause of cellulite is linked to the septae, the fibrous bands that connect your skin to the muscular structures below. These bands can stiffen or shrink over time and pull against the skin, causing the underlying fat to bulge.
About Avéli Cellulite Treatment

Avéli is FDA-approved to reduce varying degrees of cellulite, ranging from mild texturing to severe dimpling. (1) Monarch Plastics, Skin and Wellness is proud to be one of the first practices in Kansas City to offer Avéli!
During the procedure, your physician will administer local anesthesia to the targeted area. They will then make a small incision and guide the Avéli device beneath the skin. The device will then sever the septae, releasing them to smooth out your skin. Your physician will repeat this process until they address the entire treatment area.
Benefits
Avéli offers several benefits, including:
- Smoother Skin: Avéli releases the septae responsible for cellulite, restoring a smoother look and feel to your legs.
- Little to No Downtime: You can return to most of your daily activities within 24-48 hours, allowing you to receive your treatment with minimal disruption to your routine.
- Lasting Results: Avéli produces long-lasting improvements, with many patients experiencing results lasting for a year or longer.
- FDA-Approved: Avéli is FDA-approved, which means it has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its safety and efficacy for its designated indication.
Candidates
You may be a candidate for Avéli if you are experiencing cellulite around the buttocks and posterior thigh. All patients should be in good general health and have realistic expectations regarding their results.
We do not recommend Avéli for those with diabetes, skin infections, varicose veins in the treatment area, or pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you do not qualify for this treatment, we still encourage you to schedule a consultation so that our team can help you find a suitable alternative.
Personal Consultation
The first step to achieving smoother, tighter, more toned legs is attending a personal consultation at any one of our offices. During this consultation, a physician will meet with you individually to learn more about your medical history, concerns, and treatment goals. They will also evaluate the area of concern.
Your physician will use this information to determine your candidacy and create your personalized treatment plan. They will tailor certain aspects of your treatment plan to your unique anatomy, and they may suggest other procedures that could enhance your results. They will also address any questions or concerns you may have, as we want you to feel comfortable and confident about your Avéli cellulite treatment.
To schedule a consultation and start planning your Avéli treatment, please contact us online or call (913) 663-3838. We look forward to hearing from you!
Preparation
After scheduling your Avéli procedure, your physician will provide a set of preparation instructions. These instructions are generally straightforward, and you should follow each one for the best results.
These guidelines may include:
- Refraining from taking any blood-thinning medications and supplements with approval from your primary care physician.
- Ceasing the consumption of nicotine or alcohol leading up to your procedure.
- Pre-arranging transportation home after your treatment.
Recovery
After your treatment, you may experience mild bruising or swelling in the treated areas. These effects will subside on their own within several days, but you can also manage them by following the aftercare instructions. You may return to your routine after resting for one to two days. However, you should avoid strenuous tasks and physical activities until your physician says it is okay.
Our team will provide you with a full set of recovery instructions after your procedure to help guide you as you heal. If you have any questions after your procedure, we encourage you to contact our office.
Results
You can expect to notice the results of your cellulite treatment once any swelling or bruising has subsided. After the release of the septae, your skin will feel smoother and appear clearer, improving the overall aesthetic of the treated areas. The effects of Avéli are long-lasting, with many patients enjoying visible improvements for up to a year.
It is important to note that cellulite is a chronic condition, meaning it can recur over time—maintenance treatments may be recommended to help sustain your results. There is currently no permanent cure for cellulite, but treatments like Avéli are effective for managing its appearance temporarily.

If you’re concerned about cellulite, Avéli may be a great option for you as the device physically releases the cellulite-causing bands. The best way to determine if you are a good candidate is to schedule a consultation at one of our offices, where our physicians can assess your individual needs and guide you toward the most effective treatment plan.
What concerns can Avéli treat?
Avéli can address the septa bands beneath the skin that cause cellulite depressions and dimples. It is not a permanent solution for cellulite, as the condition tends to return over time. This procedure does not address other concerns other than cellulite, such as excess fat or loose skin.

No, you will only need to undergo a single treatment session to address your cellulite. However, you are welcome to return for maintenance treatments when the cellulite returns.

You may experience side effects such as bruising or tenderness in the treated areas, which typically subside within 30 days to months.

You will be able to see improvements in the treated areas as any residual swelling and bruising subside, with most patients experiencing more refined results after one month.
