How does laser skin resurfacing work?
Your surgeon will use the laser to remove layers of skin by sending short, concentrated bursts of light into the skin. Our plastic surgeons are skilled in safe use of laser equipment, and will be able to control the depth of penetration necessary to remove skin with precision. The laser beam will remove your outer layer of skin while heating the skin underneath. This stimulates the growth of new cells, which helps give the skin a tighter, more youthful appearance.
The procedure can be used on the entire face or in specific areas that require treatment. Patients who have a variety of complexions, including darker-skinned individuals, may be treated effectively with the laser. Some patients may benefit from the laser’s mild “tightening” effects on the skin, especially in the lower eyelid area where the skin can often become loose as a result of aging.
