Lipodissolve
Lipodissolve can be used for various conditions such as localized fat reduction, some skin retraction, contouring irregularities, post-liposuction imperfections and lipomas. Lipodissolve is commonly used on small to medium fat deposits in the following areas:
- Abdomen
- Love Handles
- Saddle Bags
- Buttocks
- Upper Back
- Thighs
- Arms
- Chin
- Neck
- Cheeks and Jowls
- Lower Eyelids
Lipodissolve uses specific amounts of phosphatidylcholine and sodium deoxycholate. Phosphatidylcholine is an essential lipid and is a component of many molecules essential for normal cell function. Deoxycholate is a bile salt similar to what the gall bladder excretes to help in the digestion of fat. The solution is injected just underneath the skin, directly into small to medium fat deposits. The fat deposits absorb the mixture, harden, and then dissolve into waste that is naturally expelled from the body.
Am I a Lipodissolve Candidate?
The ideal candidate for lipodissolve is near their ideal weight with resistant areas of localized fat deposits. Those with kidney failure, liver failure, or are pregnant or nursing are not candidates for lipodissolve. The ideal candidate has a Body Mass Index less than 30. Not everyone is a good candidate and some patients may require traditional liposuction or other body contouring procedures such as tummy tucks.

Lipodissolve cannot replace surgical procedures like liposuction, whole-body liposculpture, or extensive tissue lift/tightening based on loose underlying tissue. But, on the right body type with small to medium fat deposits, Lipodissolve can replace surgery and often accomplish good results without extensive downtime or any complications related to surgery.
How does it compare to liposuction? Is it painful?
The inflammatory process is the mechanism by which lipodissolve works. Immediately after injections patients should expect burning and itching in the injected area. It is normal to have swelling and tenderness for two to three days after the injections. This is a normal part of the inflammatory process.
How quickly does lipodissolve work?
Most patients begin to see changes approximately two weeks after the second injection. However, the inflammatory process and subsequent removal of fat cells may take twelve weeks (six injection sessions) to complete.
