Watching your child deal with acne issues can be heartbreaking for parents. Acne as an adult can be embarrassing. Unfortunately, not many options, that really work, are available for those suffering from resistant, hard-to-treat active acne.
Levulan is a two-phase, ALA Photo Dynamic treatment. Each treatment includes an in-office procedure where a nurse or physician applies a powerful, topical solution to the affected area. This solution is activated by a blue light therapy session, a specific wavelength of light which “turns-it-on.”
This light panel therapy activates the solution while providing additional anti bacterial and skin rejuvenating benefits. It is recommended that the patient returns for at least two additional light panel treatments. A medical facial that includes a gentle microdermabrasion can expedite the improvement by clearing the pores of infected debris and hardened sebum.
Levulan is a simple, in office procedure that may require multiple treatment sessions. It can take several weeks before the patient realizes the full treatment benefits. During this period, the skin’s condition may worsen before progressively improving. However, results can include a dramatic improvement in active acne, a minimized appearance of pore size as well as a reduction in skin’s oiliness and diminished acne scarring.
