Dr. Bortnick is a Kansas City Native. He attended Pembroke County Day School, followed by a combined BA-MD degree at The University of Missouri-Kansas City. He then completed a five year General Study Residency at The University of Kansas, which included a one year post doctoral fellowship in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology; followed by a two year Plastic Surgery Residency at The University of Georgia, Medical College in Augusta, Georgia.
Dr. Bortnick is the founding partner of Monarch Plastic Surgery, which was founded in 1995. His principal practice concentrates on cosmetic and aesthetic surgery of the face and body. He has developed a reputation as a local and regional expert in body contouring and cosmetic nasal surgery. He serves as a training injector for Integra, INC. teaching other physicians current techniques with tissue fillers and Botox Cosmetics. He maintains interests and serves as The Residency Coordinator for cosmetic plastic surgery at The University of Kansas Medical Center.
He is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. He currently serves as a committee member of Plastic Surgery Education Foundation/ ASPS as well as a committee member for The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons, a member of The Lipoplasty Society of North America.
