Chemical peel

Chemical peel

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. A chemical peel is helpful for individuals who have facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are used in chemical peels to treat these conditions.

The precise formula used in chemical peels may be adjusted to meet each patient’s needs. Although a chemical peel can be performed in conjunction with a facelift, the procedure is not a substitute for surgery. It will, however, prevent or slow down the aging process.

A chemical peel is most commonly performed for cosmetic reasons to even skin tone and texture, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. A chemical peel may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne facial scars, and even control acne.
