Minimally Invasive Cheeklift
As we age, gravity and chronic exposure to the sun take their toll, most notably on the face.
The soft tissues in the middle of the face sag, leading to a hollowing of the lower eyelids
and the sagging of the cheeks. Standard face and necklift procedures are unable to elevate
the malar (cheek) fat and the folds that develop between the nose and corner of the mouth
(nasolabial fold). A cheek lift (Meloplication) may use sutures under the skin to elevate
the natural fat pads of the midface to provide a youthful mid-face elevation without scars
or the longer recovery time of a full facelift. A Meloplication may also be performed in
combination with other procedures to provide a more comprehensive youthful appearance.
Meloplication will create a softer, more youthful cheek position. In many cases it will
minimize the deep hollows below the eyes, and reduce the look of heaviness of the nasolabial
fold (smile lines from nose to outer lips).
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgi-center.
For the first few days after surgery, patients experience swelling and facial tightness.
This is relieved by cold compresses, elevation and pain medication.
